Mr Themba Kojana
A former school principal, Mr Themba Kojana, was appointed Deputy Director-General: School Infrastructure Management in June 2016 responsible for school infrastructure planning, delivery, maintenance in the Basic Education Sector. He holds a BA degree from Vista University and BEd Honours from the University of Free State. His other qualifications include a certificate in Education Leadership Course, certificate in Introduction to Economics for Unionist and a certificate in Adventure Leader course.
He previously led as Deputy Director-General: Teacher and Professional Development in the Department of Basic Education responsible for the promotion of quality teaching and institutional performance through the effective supply, development and utilisation of human resources.
He was Chief Director in the Department of Basic Education responsible for Mobilisation and Partnerships in Education. In May 2007, he was the Director: Rural Education responsible for developing a comprehensive plan for improving the quality of education in rural areas.
From January 2006 to May 2008, he served as Director for School Safety and Enrichment. During his tenure, Mr Kojana was responsible for coordinating the development of the legislative framework for the operation with the Department of Sport and Recreation and Arts and Culture; coordinating, and the development of, the strategy on minimum programmes which include professional development programmes.
